And Then There Were None

So I was home yesterday afternoon, and as usual, Chloe was really excited to have me there. See?

That’s so pathetic.

Last night was crazy. Our group was just off in class; we were supposed to make Blueberry Muffins, Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread, Scones, French Bread (from a sponge dough we started yesterday), Cinnamon Rolls and Danish Dough to cook next week. Instead of blueberry muffins, we made blueberry hockey pucks (DON’T forget the baking powder), and didn’t even get to the scones… which is sad, because I LOVE scones :( I did try another group’s and they were really good. The french bread was fine, but can french bread really be that exciting? The cornbread was good but SPICY thanks to the 4 jalapenos and seeds that went into the batter.

But the cinnamon rolls were delicious! Other than being a little time consuming (from letting the dough ferment and then proof after makeup), they’re actually not that hard to make. They came in really handy last night because during class I got a text from my mom that our neighbor was in the ER with possible appendicitis. So Brian and I headed to the hospital after class. It was appendicitis- they performed surgery around midnight and he’s doing great! And all but one of the cinnamon rolls got eaten in the OR waiting room… I think my Dad had three.

So here’s the one lonely little cinnamon roll that keeps calling my name:
