First off, can I tell you how fun it is to live in TX in the summer? This afternoon I ran some errands and then met my parents and our neighbor at a wine bar (yep, Times Ten… again) while Brian was at a work happy hour. By the time we grabbed dinner and got home, it was around 10pm. The thermostat in our house is set at 74. Guess what it read when we got home?? 83 degrees. Needless to say, Chloe and I hightailed it out of there and are spending the night at my parents’. My Mac has been all kinds of wonky lately and I’m really enjoying blogging on their PC. Hmmm…
Speaking of Chloe, she spent all afternoon asleep on a chair in the living room. She’s been having too many “accidents” in the house lately, so I’ve been trying to let her outside more- which is what I did around 3 today. Unfortunately, when I looked outside to make sure she was doing her business, this is what I saw:
Grr. Lazy pug never even left the porch.
For lunch I tried out the L.O.V.E. Wrap from the Ellie Krieger cookbook. Apparently Ellie made this wrap for an anniversary lunch for her hubbie, and the acronym stands for “Lettuce, Onion, Veggies and Egg Salad.” Unfortunately the name is much better than the taste
I guess it’s just a pretty standard egg salad recipe- eggs, mayo, mustard, s&p- but this was a really boring wrap. I even added capers, but it just lacked something…
Here’s my wrap:
And here’s the entire lunch, with carrot chips and Cedar’s Garlic Artichoke Salsa for dipping:
Oh well. I’m not giving up on the cookbook yet- hopefully some of the other recipes will be better!
Good news: I got a really exciting package in the mail today from FoodBuzz!!! It even included REALLY cute business cards!
Bad news: The package had been destroyed and was accompanied by a really nice letter of apology from the USPS. And by nice, I mean “Sorry, we screwed up. That sucks.” Seriously, nothing in this package is useable- it was still wet and COVERED in mud or some other gross substance. I’m so sad
But I’m emailing FoodBuzz and will hopefully get this straightened out asap.
I feel like this is kind of a downer post… sorry guys, hopefully tomorrow will be all sunshine and puppies again. Wish us luck with the AC situation!

OH wow, no AC is NO good. And I bet I will inspire you to sunshine and puppies, 20 minutes with me would make anyone optimistic.
I got a surprise FoodBuzz package this week, too: an organic cotton shopping bag with my blog name on a pin stuck to it. It’s pretty! So sorry to hear your business cards are ruined…That does suck. I hope they can send you some replacements.
I’d give Kate a good hour…..I’m just saying!
chloe is soooooooooo cute. she wants to date my Quaid.
Kat- no it is NOT good
Wandering- They sent you a bag?? That’s awesome! I just heard back and they’re sending business card replacements. Yea!
Cindy- Ha! I’m telling!
Lindsay- Aw, is Quaid your pug? Chloe would love a date!
Try the Banana Cream Pie recipe, it is really good. I served it without the whipped cream (I used the canned stuff) it was great. My husband even enjoyed it. If you like meatloaf her Turkey Meatloaf is super moist - again another recipe my hubby liked (and he tends to dislike ground turkey). Sorry the eggs where not to exciting.
