I Apologize, Mr. Buttlicker

The Office writers are GENIUS. That sales role-playing scene almost made me pee my pants (which is the coolest, in case you haven’t heard).

I’m ready for this week to be over- it’s felt like constant craziness and I’m ready for some R&R… although this weekend is already shaping up to be pretty busy. Sigh.

Today I had my last day of training at yet another WF location. The Dallas/Fort Worth area has 6 stores. Running late (as usual) so I had a quick breakfast of Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar and milk:

This flavor is definitely a winner… I would equate it to eating crunchy PB out of the jar, but without your judgmental spouse giving you the stink eye for double dipping.

Free lunch again! Well, kind of free. I had some brown rice salmon avocado rolls and a cup of cioppino:

Has anyone seen the new Everyday with Rachael Ray holiday issue? It’s like $10, but much more substantial than the monthly issues and has a bunch of great recipes. Tonight I made the Pumpkin Penne (recipe here) but subbed half-and-half for the heavy cream. It was easy to make- you just saute garlic and shallots, dump in a can of chicken broth, pumpkin, cream and some spices, simmer until thick and then add whole wheat pasta to the mix. This recipe features fresh sage, which I’m a HUGE fan of in the fall. It works so well with pumpkin and root veggies.

We chopped up a link of Archer Farms Italian Chicken Sausage to serve on top of the pasta… lots of parmesan, too:

Want to hear something gross?

My toenail fell off. I noticed that the nail looked bruised a couple of weeks ago, and it basically just completely came off today. I’ve heard of that happening with distance running. It doesn’t hurt at all- I just hope that it grows back. Brian honestly could not be more disgusted right now. Like even more disgusted than when I double dip in the peanut butter. I can’t say that I blame him…

Guess what tomorrow is? PASTA DAY!! We’re making fresh pasta, cheese ravioli, pesto, pasta salad, caesar salad, and italian dressing. Can’t wait :)

Oh Heather! You make me laugh. I’m sorry about your toenail. I’ve had that happen too and it’s pretty strange,
I’m slightly jeal that you have 6 WF in your area. Of course, Lubbock has…0.
    How’s Chloe?

  2. Sammie says:

How about both big toenails falling off at the same time – now that is gross!!! I now buy my running shoes a 1/2 size bigger. I have come to accept the fact that as a running I will never have model worthy feet.
No big plans for us here this weekend. I would like to take D to see Madagascar 2. Have a great weekend.

I’m here to tell you that you can get fake toe nails put on. I do that all of the time during the open toe shoe months. I’ve also noticed that since keeping my toe nails really short this has yet to be a problem.

As for the weekend, tonight is happy hour and delivery pizza night. Last week we watched Old Boy (Korean) and tonight we are watching Red. Tomorrow we are heading to Tyler to visit M’s dad and Sunday we have nothing on the books.

  4. Rose says:

Pasta day! Sounds good to me. Sign me up!

    This weekend:

    * Tonight I have to finish making a book…
    * … so I can give to my friend at her baby shower tomorrow
    * followed by a night of mayhem at my old college
    * then promptly getting home Sunday around noon to get back to the grind!

Hey, I am going to shoot you an email soon… my friend wants me to run a half marathon with her in May 2009. I’m terrified. I need your advice. Will send soon :)

  5. Tammy says:

Well, since I have worked the last two weekends and have not had a day off since Oct. 20th I will be cleaning/washing/etc. I also have to plant two flats of pansies that are looking rather pitiful.
    Other than that napping. :)

  6. Ange C. says:

Happy Friday!! EWWWWW about your toenail but my
condolences. That must be weird. But yay for your running!

And I am sooo making that pumpkin pasta dish…thanks for the inspiration. It sounds like the perfect dish to whip us this time of year. Do you think you could substitute milk for the heavy cream too? I need your input on that!

And weekend plans…hmmmm…saturday a wedding (MMMM..wedding cake!) and sunday we’re sprucing up our little yard and trimming and planting flowers. I really love to garden!

  7. Brian says:

I think we should go see Role Models tonight.

My weekend plan is to sit on the couch and watch football. But that’s my plan every weekend and it never seems to match my weekend reality…

  8. bcgirl says:

Wow, that pumpkin pasta looks divine; RR is too creative. As for your toenail, I’ve had my baby toenail fall off which I realize isn’t nearly as traumatic, but still. Unfortunately it was my ‘out’ to stop running – don’t worry I never did enjoy it in the first place. Just wasn’t my bag.

Tonight I’m going to see the Transiberian Orchestra in concert (it’s never too early for xmas songs!), and both Saturday and Sunday I have birthday parties to attend! A busy weekend all around. I also second more pictures of the squeezable Chloe.

  9. runjen says:

I love that you love the office!!
    You’ve been tagged!

  10. heatherwlu says:

Erin- Chloe’s great :) She says thanks for asking.

    Rose- definitely email me!

Ange- Not sure that regular milk would work because it may not thicken. Try either fat free half and half OR fat free evaporated milk (in the can)…

Runjen- Thanks! I’ll check your blog for the details

  11. Melissa S. says:

hahaha…great toenail story…i actually have two layers of toenails on each big toe and every once in a while the layers will seperate and one comes off. hahaha…my mom screams every time i mention it.

    plans?

    Friday: swim and reading/tv
    Saturday: volunteer, long run
    Sunday: Roomies engagement party.

  12. Hangry Pants says:

hahaha. You’re so silly. I am sorry for the toenail!

And I was dying watching the office last night.

I think I made that Rachel Ray recipe before. I think it was in an old issue. I loved it!

I am glad you’re enjoying Whole Foods. I told my brother who works there in cheeses about your new job, ya know as if we actually know each other! :D
