I’ve been such a running slacker lately. As soon as I actually go outside and start running, it’s totally cool… but just getting dressed and out the door is the problem. This morning I did manage a 3.5 miler at 6 and felt really, really good afterwards. I just need someone to remind me of this whenever I’m whining and procrastinating about working out. Any takers?
For breakfast I busted out the oatbran. It didn’t explode in the microwave this time (SCORE!). Served the usual way, with sliced almonds, honey and blackberries:
You know what’s not a good look? Three-inch grey roots. So I finally broke down and got my hurr did this afternoon. Damn bad hair genes. Afterwards I stopped at my favorite sandwich shop, The Great Outdoors. This place is the best: good bread; quality, non-slimey deli meat; and lots of topping options. I had the #7 (turkey) on wheat with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and jalapenos. And a bag of Snyder’s Salt & Vinegar Chips.
Tonight was book club at Lauren’s house (I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley) and we were instructed to bring desserts. Key lime pie is one of my favorites, so I was excited to run across this recipe for Key Lime Bars a while back. I followed it pretty much to the letter- but the bars took quite a bit longer to cook than indicated (it said 10 min and I probably baked them closer to 20… they were still jiggly after 10). They turned out great! Here they are along with little whipped cream rosettes and key lime garnish.
Lauren picked up pizza from Cigarz. If you like thicker crust pizza, this is the place to go. It’s pick-up only, but they have a great menu and really good hummus, too. Here’s the Greek Pizza after we attacked it:
And more desserts! Brownies by Jill and lemon bars by Julie.
Thanks to Allison for sending me the photos! I was a bad little blogger and forgot my camera.
Did you get April Fooled this year? Or did you prank anyone else?
