Bedtime Snack

It’s 9:40. I’m trying to blog, shower and still be in bed by 10:30… think I can do it? I have to be up at 5:30. Don’t be jealous.

Last night I put together a bowl of overnight oats, so breakfast was ready to go when I had to leave the house this morning at 6:50 to babysit:

ooats

  • 1/2 c oats
  • 1/2 c Vanilla Almond Breeze
  • 1/2 c plain yogurt
  • Walnuts
  • Berries (raspberries and blueberries)

I only have one of the kiddos during the day this week (the other one is at camp), so we met Brian for lunch at the Allgood Cafe. I had the Ultimate BLT with avocado. Look at all of that bacon!!!

Yum.

Thanks for all of your summer dessert suggestions! Since I had a plethora of peaches (that’s called alliteration, kids), I decided to go with this peach cobbler recipe from one Mrs. Paula Deen- 651 reviews and a 5-star average. Can’t beat that. We also have a bunch of blueberries (ohhhh, there she goes again) so I reduced the peaches down to three cups and added in a cup of blueberries.

Final product:

cobbler

I’m a little nervous. I think the blueberries gave off more juice than the peaches, so the cobbler ended up a tad more moist than I expected. But hopefully it tastes okay… I’ll just bring along a tub of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla to dump on top. That makes everything better.

For dinner we decided to clean out the fridge. Meatloaf sandwiches (courtesy of Brian):

And I cooked the summer squash my mom brought over last night. Nothing fancy- just saute a chopped onion in a Tbs of olive oil and add in the sliced squash and a can of stewed tomatoes, along with some herbs (oregano, garlic powder, tarragon, S&P). Cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

After dinner I dragged my butt off the couch and out for a walk around the neighborhood. When we got home I was craving both chocolate and a smoothie, so I had both:

bansmooth

  • 1 cup Vanilla Almond Breeze
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Spoonful of almond butter
  • Few squeezes of light Hershey’s syrup
  • Ice cubes

Yum. Like a banana milkshake.

Time? 10:02. I think I can do this…

Oh, I’m going to sound like a total old lady! I am in bed by 9ish nightly & fall asleep shortly thereafter. I do get up daily at 5am to hit the gym though so that makes it not sound so bad. Right?!?

  3. Rose says:

There’s no reason to lie – my bedtime is around midnight. I get started going to bed around 11 p.m. and get distracted for an entire hour before I actually fall asleep. I often sleep in!

Bedtime should be 9:30 ’cause I gotta get up at 6:00 and I need my full 8 hours…but it’s usuallly more like 10:30 or 11:00.

  5. Sammie says:

Most days I like to be in bed by 9:30 and I get up anywhere from 4 to 5. I have always been a morning person. I like the quietness of my house all to myself – it does not last long.

  6. Carolyn says:

10pm and 5am. I like to be in the park riding when all the triathlon teams blow through on their training rides, it makes me feel awesome. Or awesomely slow.

Did you see Paula Deen on My Life on the D List? It made me love her. Flirting with Johnny on “Paula’s Party” not so much.
