I think Baby Jack has decided to take a little nap against my spine… my back is achin’. Maybe a brownie would wake him up?
This morning I woke up slightly less stuffy than yesterday (progress!). Thought about making oatmeal, but our bananas are still a little green- and you can’t have oatmeal without bananas, of course. So instead it was plain yogurt with a sliced, very ripe red plum, Quaker Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares, a handful of Newflower raw trail mix and honey. And some of the new Vitaminwater10 (Mega-C flavor), which was $1 at Target:

Cleaned up the house a little, caught up on emails, then tagged along with my mom to meet my dad for lunch. We headed to Garden Cafe. I was hoping that it was meatloaf day, but no such luck. I stuck with the garden platter: house salad w/ lemon vinaigrette, lima beans, cabbage, mashed potatoes and a roll.

Their veggies are amazing.
Next week we’re going on a little trip to South Carolina. Half the time we’ll be visiting Brian’s parents in Greenville, then the other half we’ll be on vacation in Hilton Head. Anyone been to Hilton Head and have good restaurants, shops, etc. to recommend? We’re also taking a day trip to Savannah, which I’ve been obsessed with since reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil back in junior high. I want to eat at Lady & Sons, but any other suggestions would be appreciated!!! It’s been three years since our last real vacation, so I can’t wait.
Where was I going with that? Oh yeah, today my mom and I headed to Ross and TJ Maxx/Homegoods to try and find some clothes for me to take on the trip. I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve been wearing Target black yoga pants pretty much every day for the past month. Anyway, Ross actually carries maternity clothes and I scored a pair of capris for $8. TJ Maxx had a cute Lucky Brand tee (that actually fit over the big belly!) and an American Eagle long cardigan that, thanks to gift cards, came out to about $10. Nice.
And on the way home I got this:

Decaf Americano with a shot of PUMPKIN SPICE. Ahhh, Fall is upon us!
Brian had a meeting tonight, so my parents felt sorry for me and took me to dinner. Is it sad that I’m 27 and my mom and dad paid for two of my meals today? Don’t answer that.
We tried a new Mexican restaurant in Lake Highlands. I think the name is simply “Tex Mex Grill.” It’s at the corner of Plano Rd. and Walnut Hill. I ordered the tacos al carbon with chicken:

Not bad. Very reasonably priced AND they have a full bar. We live in a dry area, so that’s always a plus.
That’s all I got. Off to watch Family Guy and try to get this kid to move.
-SURVEY-
What’s your usual Starbucks order?
Cinnamon Dolce Americano, though obviously the Pumpkin Spice trumps it when in season. Mmmmm.

Triple grande skinny vanilla latte. However, I am ready for the fall, so I may dabble in the Pumpkin Spice tomorrow morning.
Can you really taste the pumpkin spice in an Americano? I think I’ve tried that once and couldn’t taste it!
It definitely wasn’t as strong as in the latte- I could taste the sweetness but not a lot of pumpkin
I’m a grande drip kind of a gal. Add a little half and half and sugar and I’m all set. When I’m feeling risky, I go for the mocha frappachino.
So, you tried the Tex Mex Grill? And, it’s not bad either. Looks like I’ll be heading up there soon.
My parents loved the food- I thought it was pretty good, about on par with Mexicali. Oh, and they have a happy hour! I think it’s til 7.
I am a grande soy latte girl – and I tried their new soy frappachinos thinking they would just be a blended version of the hot drink but no such luck – they are very sugary and syrupy.
You’ve got to go to Eat! at Hilton Head, which is Robert Irvine’s new restaurant! http://eathhi.com/ My mom, sister and I went when we were down there a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic! Plus, you might just get to meet Robert Irvine! If you can go on a Tuesday, that’s ideal b/c it’s 50% off tapas (or at least it was in August). Also, I liked Truffles Cafe in Sea Pines Center, but Eat! is a “can’t miss” kind of place!
Thanks, Jane!! We’ll definitely check it out!
tall skinny latte normally a chai tea, but if I get it cafe style I’ll add vanilla or almond in the spring/summer; pumpkin or gingerbread in the fall/winter.
I’m kind of boring and always go for the pike place decaf. If I’m really feeling into it(and want to drop 4 bucks) I’ll go for a chocolate banana vivanno
I like to order a tall skinny latte or a tall soy latte. I also love getting Power Chai – chai latte with a shot of espresso. I’ve been wanting to try the awake tea latte but have wondered about the flavor.
I order a green tea arnold palmer. 1/2 green tea, 1/2 lemonade. Not a big hot beverage drinker.
hot be. = cafe mocha with one equal.
cold bev. = mocha frappuccino
I really need to branch out.
I’ve been dying to go to Savannah, too.
ah last time I hit up hilton head I was but a wee little girl.. and I’ll be honest, all I remember was hitting up mickey d’s on the way home
Caramel Macchiato.. Or java chip frapp…
