Well, we’re back in Greenville. So long to the beach…
Not all that much to report from today, since most of it was spent sitting on my be-hind in the car. Did I mention that our rental was a Kia Rondo? Yeah, that’s right. Don’t be jealous. I didn’t know it was possible for a car to be so incredibly narrow, yet very, very tall.
We planned on getting up early and spending a couple of hours on the beach before checkout, but seeing as how we’re both lobster-red, opted to sleep in instead. After a minor freakout involving the Westin charging our credit card $80 for some type of resort fee, we were on the road.
On the way out of town we stopped for lunch at Five Guys. We have a couple of locations around Dallas but had never tried them. First off, the prices are impressive. The “regular” burgers actually consist of double meat patties, so I ordered the Little Burger- only $3.50!

Also a nice surprise was that all of the toppings were free. We split a small order of fries, which I think cost around $2.50. This was less than HALF of the small order:

I should also add that Brian was quite excited about the giant boxes of unshelled peanuts set out around the restaurant. The burger was pretty darn good. I actually like that they’re on the small size; more manageable, and you don’t end up wearing the toppings. The big preggo belly-shelf tends to catch a lot of food these days.
After lunch we got back on the highway for the four hour drive to Greenville. I tried to finish the USA Today crossword, then got frustrated, said screw it and read Glamour instead.
Finally pulled into town around 5. I can’t believe it’s only 70 degrees here! Brian’s mom made a great dinner of pear and gorgonzola salad with HOMEMADE sweet onion dressing:

And goulash, a childhood fave of Brian’s.

I ate a LOT. And now I’m battling a food coma.
Hope everyone is having a good week! Tomorrow we’re off to North Carolina to tour The Biltmore, then Saturday we’ll be in Greenville and Sunday it’s back to Dallas. Wow, four states in less than a week. I miss my sweet Chloe, though I hear she’s doing well. Apparently my mom tried to take a quick nap on our couch last night and Chloe very indignantly punched/pawed her until she got up and gave her some attention. I have nooooo idea how she got so spoiled

Ha. The Kia Rondo made me laugh. We had a Kia Rondo loaner car last time we were in the shop. I kind of hated it, except for the purse hook in the passenger seat. Did yours have that?
It’s a purse hook?? I was wondering what that hook was for.
We just got a Five Guys in Portland, and I’m half tempted to go omnivore just for an afternoon. This post isn’t helping.
Looks like ya’ll are having a great vacation!! Have fun at the Biltmore–my parents and sister were there a few weeks ago and said that it was amazing. They bought me some wine from the Biltmore Winery, which I was honestly a little skeptical about, but the wine is actually very tasty. Maybe you should pick some up…for December
Oh the Biltmore…how I “heart” thee! Enjoy it; it is beautiful. The first time I went I was ten years old and have been in love ever since. Heading back in October to see the leaves – can’t wait!
OK, now I am really jealous. I would love to see the Biltmore. It’s on my list. Have a great time!
Homemade sweet onion dressing sounds sooo good. What a cook!
I want some of that homemade dressing for sure!
