Rain Rain Go Away

You know, Wednesday night is neck-and-neck with Thursday in terms of good TV right now. Both Modern Family and Glee are moving to the top of my list. And you know what makes it even better? Hot chocolate.

With marshmallows, in my Cabbage Patch Kids mug. I used to LOVE this cup as a kid and my mom recently found it while cleaning out their house. It’s the perfect size for those little packets of hot cocoa.

We had rain all freaking day. It was raining when I woke up and hasn’t let up since. For breakfast I tried this Stonyfield Farms Pumpkin Pie yogurt:

Mixed with Quaker Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares and dried cherries, with a side of whole wheat toast spread with a Laughing Cow wedge and apple butter. A very “fall” breakfast, no?

The pumpkin pie yogurt was delicious, though I think I might actually prefer the Archer Farms version (AND it’s $0.50 cheaper!).

Chloe was acting so weird today. Instead of her usual “sleep on the couch all day” routine, she followed me everywhere. Into the bathroom, between my feet while I was working on the computer, next to the chair while I put on makeup. When I tried to leave for a trip to the post office, she took off into the garage and jumped into the car- where she proceeded to hide under the steering column.

I don’t know what her deal was. Maybe the rain? Though it’s been raining for a month. I was half freaked out that her spidey senses were tingling and I was going to go into labor or something. She seems to have calmed down tonight and is back to her annoying pug self.

For lunch I heated up some of the leftover cinnamon-lime quinoa topped with roasted sweet potatoes and pork:

To continue the pumpkin obsession, a few days ago I saw a recipe for Pumpkin Coconut Chocolate Chip Bars on Megan’s Munchies and had been dying to try it ever since. Luckily we were meeting Joy for dinner tonight, which gave me the perfect excuse to bake some. Joy always brings me her mom’s delicious baked goods, so I like to reciprocate- aaaand that way I don’t eat the entire pan by myself.

Pretty much followed the recipe, though I *may* have added a few more (as in double) the chocolate chips:

Very yummy! They came together really quickly, and the recipe seems pretty low fat- aside from the chocolate chips.

We met Joy for dinner at La Calle Doce in Lakewood. I had the shrimp tacos, which comes with a cup of cod soup:

caldo

The tacos were awesome. The shrimp was chopped and mixed with onions, tomatoes and peppers. I also really dug the cucumber/jicama/carrot salad on the side.

My favorite thing at La Calle Doce is their ceviche… which will definitely be one of the first meals I eat after Jack gets here. I miss it so much… along with a big margarita :)

Back to Top Chef. Ugh, Robin needs to GO.

  1. As a mug collecting addict, I am a very big fan of that CPK mug :) Very cute!

Thanks for the tip on Archer Farms pumpkin yogurt! I’ve been eating the Stonyfield this week and would love a cheaper option!

Aww Chloe – always good for a smile.

Um awesome mug! My favorite thing to cook for other people is healthier versions of dessert.

Also, are you going to keep the prius as a family car when Jack is born?

  3. gammypie says:

I have got to the pumpkin flavored yogurts. I never remember to add them to my grocery list. I’m making a mental note right now.

I enjoy making casseroles for people. Around the holidays I love making candy and snacks to give away. It puts me in the holiday spirit. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a sack full of chocolate covered pretzels with red and green sprinkles.

I bet that Chloe is sensing the change in her mama and that may be way she is acting odd. Both of my dogs became VERY attached to me (like more than usual) when I was preggers. It is funny how animals react to your pregnancy.
I love that mug. I was a huge Cabbage Patch fan when I was little. I would take my dolls everywhere.
My favorite thing to cook for other people would have to be Giada’s Torta di Pasta. It is quick, easy and always a big hit.

  5. Rose says:

Do you think Chloe knows a baby is coming? I mean, not that she knows a “baby” is coming but that something is happening in which she might feel “replaced” in some ways? I don’t know. My friends have theories about animals and what they can sense. That may be the case?

(I know very little about animals or babies…) :)

  6. Runeatrepeat says:

Woo-hoo for the ceviche and margie party when Jack arrives!

I still haven’t found that pumpkin yogurt :(

    What’s your due date again??

  7. Joy says:

I LOVE the pumpkin-chocolate chip bars–thank you! I sampled one last night after dinner AND had another one this morning for breakfast. They are quickly disappearing :)

  8. Evan Thomas says:

That mug is too cute. I’m definitely attatched to my Days Of Our Lives mug.
I miss Top Chef so much :-( I’ll have to catch up with an all day marathon when I go home one of these weekends

That’s what I would have thought! My friend just had her baby early and her dog freaked the whole day before! Those bars look great, I’d love to see what they look like on the insides.
