What happened to Glee tonight?? So sad. Don’t worry, we ended up spending our evening watching the “Laugh and Learn About Childbirth” video, which is just as entertaining as Glee. Or not.
Had to get up earrrly this morning for a doctor’s appointment. Breakfast was a monster bowl of pumpkin yogurt:

- Plain Yogurt
- Pumpkin Puree
- Quaker Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares
- Dried Cherries
- Chopped Walnuts
- Honey
Doctor’s appointment was kind of uneventful. I was supposed to get the H1N1 vaccine, but the office hasn’t received their shipment and, according to my OB, probably won’t be getting any before Jack gets here. Sigh. There’s a big swine flu vaccination clinic in Dallas County starting on Thursday, but it’s offered only to uninsured children with underlying health conditions. Next week they’ll be offering it to pregnant women and anyone who works with infants- but you qualify only if you’re uninsured. So yeah, no idea if, when or where it’ll be available to anyone else. Oh well, my doc seems to think the epidemic has peaked around here so hopefully it won’t even be an issue. Lots of handwashing and rest.
Let’s see- what else? I’m not dilated at all (hello, first internal exam… yikes) and I’m measuring at 34 weeks, meaning that maybe Monster Baby is not so monster-sized after all.
Ran a few errands after the appointment, then met my dad for lunch at Garden Cafe. Wednesday = meatloaf day!!

With green beans and mashed potatoes. And then dad and I split a slice of pumpkin pie…

Brian doesn’t usually have a lot of input on what we eat for dinner. He’s pretty easy to please and up for whatever. The other day he mentioned stroganoff so I figured I should do him a solid and actually try to make it. Pulled out the ol’ Betty Crocker cookbook… stroganoff is such a kitsch dish!! Lots of cans- cream of mushroom soup, canned mushrooms, sour cream (not a can, but whatever). I know that this is not “authentic” stroganoff, but it’s what I remember from growing up and still love it.
It was lightened up a bit with ground turkey, 98% FF Cream of Mushroom and reduced-fat sour cream, and served on top of wide whole wheat noodles.

Comfort food!
Along with a salad topped with Annie’s Woodstock:

Anyone catch the vegetarian challenge on Top Chef? Natalie Portman was cracking me up. It was kind of amazing how intimidated all of the chefs were by veggies.

Favorite Halloween candy??
Brian and I have been sneaking mini-Snickers all night… but I think Butterfingers are my fave.

I love Almond Joy! Oh, how I love the miniature version!! Kit Kat and Reeces Pieces are a close second.
mmm quaker oatmeal crack. i should try the cinnamon kinda.
i think i love milky ways. but latelyi consider clif chocolate builder bars my candy. it’s like twix but AMPED UP!
The all-time best candy are the Reese’s Seasonal Peanut Butter Cup things that have more peanut butter in them than the regular cups (X-Mas Trees, Valentine’s Hearts, Halloween Pumpkins, Easter Eggs, etc). They are the best. Hands down.
Other than that, I have always liked 3 Musketeers and 100 Grand. This is Elizabeth and I’s first year of home ownership and getting to pass out candy to trick or treaters so I am pretty excited about it. I think I went way overboard buying candy for it, but I made sure to only buy stuff I like in the event that we don’t get visited as much as I have planned for.
I agree about the higher PB to chocolate ratio. Especially the Easter eggs.
We always overbuy Halloween candy. By the end we’re giving it out by the handful…
(Glee should never be interrupted by baseball!!)
Agreed! Interrupt Lost or something…
twix – frozen. or reese’s – frozen
Reese’s PB cups are the best. I also secretly loved those crappy black and orange wrapped candies that had a caramel with creme center.
Little crunchy PB candies were good too.
Can Newman’s Own chocolate dipped in peanut butter count as a Halloween candy? I really want to try the new, all natural necco wafers
yumm the pumpkin yog combo looks amazing!! fav halloween candy would have to be good n plentys! I know most people hate them but i LOVE black licorice!
YUMMY lunch with your dad…ill have a bite of that pie
The lack of Glee in my life last night shook me to the core. I would have taken solace in candy corn pumpkins but sadly (thankfully) there were none to be had.
Ooh Miss Heather! I got a client who is delivering her second baby in a few weeks yesterday and thought of you right away. I hope you don’t get the flu. I hear it has run its course in Lubbock too.
I have to say, my fave mini candy-bars are probs…REESE’S CUPS! Good thing they’re not vegan or I’d be tearing it up!
