Great Finds

Hey, hey. How is it already Thanksgiving week?? Anybody else feel like 2009 has FLOWN by?

Today was pretty chill. For some reason I woke up this morning seriously craving sugar… so guess what I had for breakfast?

Yeah, that’s right. Rocky road bars- along with a giant glass of milk. See? Healthy. Carbs and protein.

I finally finished all of my baby shower thank you notes today. Now I just need to buy stamps and get them on their way! Woohoo! For lunch I wanted a big bowl of soup, and luckily we had this in the pantry:

I LOVE chicken and dumplings so I was excited to find this at Target. It’s nowhere near the creamy, gravy goodness of traditional chicken and dumplings, but it’s not bad either. A nice alternative if you’re bored with chicken noodle soup. Alongside I had a big hunk o’ beer bread and a sliced honeycrisp:

Remember how I mentioned that the Nigella Express cookbook might be making yet another appearance on the blog? Well tonight I ended up making an old standby: Pollo alla Cacciatora. It’s such an easy recipe; you can have it simmering in about 10 minutes and completely ready in 30. I usually make it with chicken breasts, but thighs were on sale yesterday (and Brian likes them better anyway) so I stuck with the original recipe. I did make a few alterations: red wine instead of white, turkey bacon instead of pancetta, and I threw in some chopped bell peppers and mushrooms. We had it over whole wheat “egg” noodles:

So I’ve mentioned the super-secret “Miracle Target” before, right? There’s this Super Target about 10 minutes from our house (as opposed to the one we usually visit) that somehow seems to ALWAYS have what I’m looking for, and it’s never crowded. I found a great charcoal gray sweater robe at “our” Target on clearance for $6… unfortunately they only had it in XXL. Tonight I dragged Brian to the secret Target, and not only did I find the robe in my size, but also THIS:

I spotted the Hot Cocoa flavor at Newflower a couple of months ago and then haven’t seen it since. I was starting to think that I had imagined it… but no!!! And it was only $3. I’m about to have a bowl so I’ll let you know how it is.

Don’t forget to enter the Bot Water giveaway!!! As of right now there are less than 20 entries, so I’d say you have a pretty good shot at winning :)

haha that soup reminds me of my roommate. She loves it! And can’t wait to hear what you think about the ice cream. It intrigues me, but I’m not a fan of marshmallowies in ice cream so I wasn’t sure.

I love Progresso soups. Of course, I always opt for the full calorie not so healthy choice. Go figure!

I’d love to try that ice cream, but I can’t seem to pull myself away from Braum’s. I’m all about double dip mint chocolate chip in a cone. Hello awesome!

We’re headed to Austin tonight (after the Mav’s game to avoid traffice, blegh). So Monday?? Here’s my (maybe late) advice for waking baby Jack…Guitar Hero!! Get a little bonding time with Brian and wake Jack up with some Pat Benatar or whatever…Have a great Thanksgiving!

I’m spending it at home :-)
You’ve got me wondering how good a bowl of oats with peanut butter and a rocky road bar crushed on top would be for breakfast

I have definitely got to find out where this “Secret” Target is….
Thanksgiving is at my house, 12 people.
    Gotta try that soup!
