Strike A Pose

So here I sit, at 7:30 on Sunday evening, chugging coffee and slowly but surely getting dinner ready. Aren’t weekends supposed to be relaxing?? I’m tired.

First things first… have you EVER seen dimples this cute?

We did have a pretty busy couple of days. On Friday evening, we decided to head to Mariano’s for dinner. They have yummy food and it’s loud enough to drown out a newborn’s cries if needed (it wasn’t- he was an angel). I fought the temptation for a margarita and settled for 529487 tortilla chips instead. That’s my problem with Tex-Mex; by the time the food arrives, I’ve already filled up on chips and salsa. It’s quite a pickle… the chip basket is stronger than my willpower.

For dinner I had the Gringos Enchiladas- chicken enchiladas topped with grilled veggies:

I ate one and brought the rest home. OH, that will be the perfect lunch tomorrow!! Thanks for reminding me.

On Saturday morning Jack had his first photo shoot! Emily Mulkey came over to take some newborn photos, and I can’t WAIT to see them. She had all kinds of awesome ideas and props (as you can see on her site). Jack was good for about 30 minutes and then waaaaailed for the next hour. We had to alternate shoving a paci in his mouth and then yanking it out to snap a pic before he started crying again. Poor guy. And he only went through about 15 diapers during the 90 minute session. It was a big morning.

The rest of Saturday was spent hanging out with family (Uncle Zach and Aunt Laura came for a visit), and quick errands to Babies R Us and Bed Bath and Beyond. Saturday evening my dad coerced Brian into coming over to watch the Cowboy game, so my mom came to our house and she, Jack and I ordered pizza from Primo Brothers, topped with chicken, tomatoes and artichoke hearts. I love their pizza, but I’m definitely not getting chicken again. It’s that nasty processed fajita-style chicken that comes pre-cooked in a bag. Yuck.

I worked on thank you notes while we watched It’s A Wonderful Life. Am I the only person in the world who doesn’t like this movie? It pretty much put me to sleep. Sorry, but I think Christmas Vacation and Elf are more my style. Very classy.

This morning we slept in (kind of… like as in 9am). Once we finally got up, dressed and fed Jack, it was noon. We planned on hitting up Barbec’s for brunch, but while I was nursing Jack this stupid Barbeque Pitmaster show came on TLC and then all I could think of was BBQ. So we ended up at Red Hot and Blues instead. I had a side salad and a baked potato stuffed with pulled chicken.

This week is going to be chock full of baking adventures. I’m trying out a few new recipes to give as Christmas gifts… first up was a Honey-Cinnamon Granola from the December issue of Bon Appetit. So far so good!

And finally, dinner tonight: roasted brussels sprouts, Alexia Rosemary-Garlic Potato Wedges and London broil.

Whew, that’s all I got. Hope everyone had a fun weekend!!!

Are you giving out any baked/food gifts this year?

Ditto on “It’s a Wonderful Life,” – I find it incredibly depressing, with the exception of the beginning & the very end. “Christmas Vacation” – greatest Christmas movie ever.

lol, I almost watched that BBQ show.
Your dinner… I might have to repeat it tonight!

    Such a cutie!

The only homemade gifts I made this year were body scrubs. I’m usually a baking machine but didn’t have it in me this year!
