Keep On Keepin' On

Howdy.

Today was really not very exciting. In fact, I think I only left the house one time. We’re really just trying to get Jack on some semblance of a schedule, so most of the day was dedicated to playing with him and then trying to get him to go down for a nap. We’ve got the morning nap down pretty well (an hour today- woohoo!) but he still refuses to sleep in the afternoons, when he actually NEEDS it. I tried to explain to him that in a few decades he’ll be begging for a nap so he should probably go ahead and take advantage of it now. Apparently he disagrees.

Breakfast this morning was blackberry yogurt (Yoplait) topped with granola and golden raisins.

Last week I ran across this soup at Whole Foods:

So I decided to give it a shot today. It’s technically 2 servings (100 cals each), but I went ahead and ate the whole carton.  Topped with cheddar and dried chives:

It definitely needed salt, but other than that the soup was delicious! I wish I’d had some bacon to crumble on top. Mmmmm, bacon…

My mom came over this afternoon and watched Jack while I went for a quick run. It was around 3 miles, and I can definitely tell a difference from my first run last week. Much easier, though I still get a few side stitches and random hip pains. Just need to keep it up.

Dinner was all about the sides: Tomato Couscous with Capers from Veganomicon and kale chips. I looooove this couscous. It’s kind of a pain to squeeze the tomato juice out of the diced tomatoes, but other than that it’s a really simple recipe. We were out of ground cloves so I substituted garam masala.

Also on the menu: Morningstar Farms Chick Patty on an english muffin with baby spinach, mustard and light mayo. Brian poo-poo’d the vegetarian dinner and fried him up a ham samich instead.

For some reason Jack always looks really funny when he’s being burped.

Nothing yet…

BRAAAAAAAAAAP

Much better.

Ahhhh, aren’t you glad I just shared that with you? He’s going to hate me for this when he’s older.

I’m really impressed he’s figured out the camera at his age. I think all the pictures before I’m 2 have me looking at the person behind it
