Just for Laughs

Last night after I finished blogging, Brian and I were getting Jack ready for bed. For some reason he’s always happiest on the changing table. We had him up there and were about to put his jammies on when Brian tickled his leg- and Jack totally started cracking up! Like the cutest giggle I’ve ever heard. I freaked out and called my parents on speakerphone so they could hear it, but of course he refused to perform on command. Anyway, first laugh!! So cool.

He was a happy boy today, too. He and Chloe hung out on the couch:

Stylin’

For breakfast I dug a yogurt out of the fridge and had that with Kashi Berry Crumble.

So I did my 2nd day in a row of the 30 Day Shred (28 to go!) while Jack was napping. That’s the great thing about this DVD- I can easily fit the workout in during naptime; though apparently taking a shower afterward was pushing it. By the time I got out of the shower Jack was waaaaaailing in his crib. He refuses to nap longer than 40 minutes.

My goal is to do this DVD at least 5 days per week for the next 2 weeks. I have no idea if I’ll be able to see results by then, but it’s gotta be better than what I’ve been doing (i.e., NOTHING). I’m thinking that setting up incentives might help. Any ideas? Makeup shopping after 2 weeks? New running shoes after a month?

I bought another Jillian Michael’s DVD at Target today. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll let you know when I do. I also bought this one. Hehehe- baby yoga.

Lunch was kind of sad and boring. A can of Progresso High-Fiber Soup:

Along with a MSF Garden Veggie Patty on an Oroweat Thin.

Not bad, but not terribly exciting either. We needed groceries STAT.

Dinner was much better. A makeshift chicken parmesan made by dipping chicken breasts in a beaten egg, then bread crumbs. I baked them at 400 for 20  minutes, then topped with marinara and mozzarella and baked for another 10 minutes.

We also had parmesan couscous, but the BEST part of dinner was the roasted broccoli. Why have I never roasted broccoli before??? It was delicious. I used a modified version of this Barefoot Contessa recipe. Instead of lemon juice/zest, I used lime, and I left off the pine nuts out of laziness.

YUM. I’ve never met a roasted veggie that I didn’t like. I love how low maintenance they are, too.

Off to address Jack’s birth announcements. Night!

  1. Evan Thomas says:

Roasted broccoli is such an obsession of mine. And I love that I can make it in the dorm kitchen no sweat, too.

  2. I did the 30 Day Shred last spring after my daughter was born. It was great to be able to squeeze in a short, intense workout whenever I had the time. I definitely saw results by the end of 30 days!
