Home Alone

So- big night here. Brian took Jack over to a friend’s house to watch the NFL draft, and… wait for it… I’m home alone. It’s awesome. I just took the world’s longest shower (sorry Earth Day- but to be fair, I take far FEWER showers than I used to, so it all evens out), mud-masked, exfoliated, deep conditioned, and even cleaned the bathroom while I waited for the mask to set. That’ s what you call multitasking.

Don’t get me wrong; I love my guys but it’s nice to have some downtime… and I’m sure Brian is having much more fun watching the draft  (snooze) with his friend.

Back to the eats. Guess what? I didn’t have yogurt for breakfast. Number 2 favorite breakfast instead: Oatmeal!

Cooked 1/2 c oats, 1/2 c milk and 1/2 water and 1/2 a sliced banana on the stove. Once it was almost finished, I added some vanilla and cinnamon. Toppings = raisins and sliced almonds. Oh, and PB of course.

Jack and I mainly hung around the house today. He slept until almost 9:30. I Shredded. Lunch was the other half of last night’s salad along with a few extra ingredients:

  • Baby Spinach
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • Broccoli
  • Goat Cheese
  • Edamame
  • Wheatberry Salad
  • Hearts of Palm
  • Shrimp
  • Sliced Almonds

The dressing was just olive oil mixed with blackberry balsamic and dijon mustard. And yep, that’s a mixing bowl.

After lunch we headed over the May’s to say hi. Jack LOVES these guys:

Dinner was fast and easy. Newflower had this ravioli on sale:

So we gave that a shot, along with this pasta sauce (my mom gave it to us- I think it’s from Jimmy’s):

Topped with- what else?- roasted broccoli. I bought that giant bag of broccoli at Costco so we’ll be having it for a while.

Okay, the boys are back and there’s good TV tonight. Have a great weekend!!

I am a huge fan of the mushroom filled raviolis. I usually buy the Buitoni ones and serve the with a nice sauce. I love using their fresh pastas in salads as well.

  2. How did you like the raviollis, I have seen them and am thinking about giving them a try sometime.

The earth forgives you and laughs at your extra long shower. :)
