I think Jack gave me my Christmas present early:
This morning he slept until TEN. I don’t think that’s every happened before. Considering that Brian and I were up until 1am making cake pops, the late wake-up was mucho appreciated.
We leave for South Carolina on Wednesday, so I have a mile long to-do list of last minute Christmas stuff, laundry, packing, cleaning, trying to come up with ways to entertain a certain energetic one year old on an airplane (yikes). Anyway, I didn’t want to buy a bunch of groceries for the week so we’re kind of playing clean out the fridge/pantry here. Breakfast was… drumroll… peanut butter and jelly. And an apple.
The weather is insane here. It was gorgeous and 75 degrees this afternoon, so Jack and I walked to our local elementary school for some playground action. His friend Alex met us there and they took turns trying to climb the slide. It was like a baby hamster wheel; their little legs were a-climbin’ but they weren’t going anywhere. Hehe.
Then back home for lunch. I bought this package of Madras Lentils a long time ago at Whole Foods and then kind of forgot about them. Oops.
So I heated it up for lunch today. I was a little disappointed at the amount of food- this is supposed to serve two people???
It tasted pretty good, but not 240 cals good (for the whole package). I topped it with sour cream and ended up throwing in some of the black eyed peas from Jack’s lunch to bulk it up a little.
Jack took a mega-nap after lunch (THREE HOURS!!!) so I did some laundry, wrapped a few presents, mailed out those Edy’s/Dreyer’s coupons. Our friends Kira and Luna stopped by to say hi and check out the cake pops, then Brian got home and we grabbed dinner at Tony’s. We’ve been eating out a lot lately, but our house is such a wreck from getting ready for Christmas and this trip that I just don’t feel like adding to it with dishes. Lazy? Absolutely.
Anyway, Tony’s it was. Jack and I shared a pizza with chicken, pineapple and mushrooms.
Wow, most boring post ever?? Sorry. Is it bad if I say that I’m kind of ready for the holidays to be over and life to get back to normal? Between birthdays, Christmas and traveling, December has pretty much kicked our hineys. I’m officially spending the entire month of January on the couch.
