It feels like I haven’t posted in a year. Lots of celebrating, eating, present-opening, eating, and any semblance of a schedule has gone straight out the window. Poor Jack didn’t get a nap until 6:00 tonight, and it lasted all of 30 minutes. Yikes.

Jack experienced his SECOND White Christmas. I think the enormity of the situation was lost on him… it was also MY 2nd White Christmas. It snowed 5 times before Jack was 2 months old, so this stuff is kind of old hat to him.

Little Jack Frost.

And no, you can’t bite his cheeks. You know you want to…

Since we’re staying with my in-laws, I haven’t done much in the way of cooking. Eating, yes. Cooking, no. I did make Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake for Christmas dinner. I love that sweet lady AND her butter.

Anyway, this is going to be a pretty random post. First off, look where we went on Friday!!!!!!

It was all I hoped it would be and more, though let me tell you- it was torture seeing all of the great fresh and frozen items (pre-cut butternut squash! turkey bolognese!) that we couldn’t bring home with us. We DID end up with a giant bag of goodies to haul back to Dallas so you’ll be seeing those finds soon… oh, and Two Buck Chuck? Not too shabby!

One of my favorite parts of the holidays has been dressing Jack up in awesome outfits. Here’s his Christmas Eve get-up… apparently I didn’t get the memo about the family red & green theme.

Unfortunately he didn’t do too well in church. We were in the cry room, but it was hot and crowded and all he wanted to do was crawl around. He and I ended up wandering around outside the church until someone poked their head out of a building and informed us that we could come play in the nursery. In the wise words of Billy Madison: “Jackpot!”

So Santa is not officially visiting Jack until we get back to Dallas (too much to haul back and forth by plane), but he did get lots of great gifts: Clothes, cars, books, toys. Mama got some cool stuff, too. I’ve been leafing through this all evening:

I also received a great photography book, a camera bag, the BEST pictures of Jack from my amazing photographer sister-in-law (pics to come once we get them home), bath products, bakeware, and probably more that I can’t even recall at the moment.

Brian’s brother and his family arrived today, so now the entire family is here in South Carolina. Jack has been having a blast with all of his cousins:

Okay, that’s all I’ve got for now. I apologize for the all over the board post… I’m going to go eat another one of these:

And then go to bed! Night!

Heather, I’ve missed your posts! Didn’t you make that Paula Deen cake last year (or the year before)? That picture of the three of you is PRECIOUS! You are such a beautiful couple, and Jack is such a glorious baby child! If only Trader Joe’s would join us in Texas. That is one of the things we miss most about Oregon. Especially around the holidays – they have amazing Candy Cane O’s and peppermint bark! Glad your holiday was spesh. xox
