Sugar High

Jack and I had a fun day today. Little Gym this morning, then we drove out to McKinney (or “My Kitty,” according to Jack) with my mom to look at nursery bedding. We grabbed lunch at a little cafe in the downtown square, Spoons, and Jack and I shared the largest piece of strawberry cake imaginable:

He kept saying, “Happy Birthday!” between bites. Apparently cake = birthdays in Jack’s world. Cake = Monday (or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday…) in Heather’s world.

We grabbed a quick dinner at Tony’s tonight before family grocery shopping at Target. It’s a thrill a minute around here, I tell ya. The point being that I cooked NOTHING today… unless you count spreading Nutella on bread this morning.

So instead, let me show you what Brian and Jack brought home Saturday morning:

I woke up to a silent house and a note on the coffee table reading: JACK & I WENT TO GET DONUTS.

They usually walk to our neighborhood donut shop, but the car was gone so I knew that they had ventured over to the just-opened Hypnotic Donuts on Garland Road.

He came back with a few different flavors: Maple-bacon, one topped with strawberry glaze and chopped Pop-Tarts, one covered in Trix cereal, one with animal crackers, and one with fresh jalapenos & Tabasco that smelled TERRIBLE.

My question: “Where’s the chocolate???”

Apparently the line was really long and they were fairly picked over by the time Brian ordered, so pretty much all that was left were the vanilla cake-based donuts. I’m more of a glazed girl, so Jack and I may have to venture over there one day during the week to see if there’s more of a selection. I’m eying the Hypnotic flavor (peanut butter-pretzel-Captain Crunch-chocolate).

Geez, what a fat kid post… strawberry cake, donuts, Nutella… let’s just blame it on the pregnancy.

Oh, I’ve had a few people ask about the collage from Friday’s phone dump post. I used the Instagram app to take & edit the pics (heatherbakes if you want to follow me), then used Picnik to create the collage.
