I had a lot of anxiety going into this weekend… last weekend as a family of three, Jack’s last weekend as an only child, last weekend for a long while that I’ll even be able to leave the house. No driving for 2 weeks post c-section, after all. We had 8 to-do lists going on top of just wanting to relax and enjoy each other.
I’m happy to say that the weekend was a success. I *think* we managed to cross everything off the to-do lists. Brian and I got in one last date night. Oh, and we had plenty of play time with Mr. Jack.
On Friday Brian and I grabbed dinner at Green Papaya. It was like 90+ degrees out but pho still sounded good… does it ever not, though?
Afterward we went to see Bernie at the Magnolia. Holy moly, hilarious. If you’re familiar with East TX, you will love it. If you’re not familiar with East TX, you’ll probably still love it (in the same way I can appreciate movies like Drop Dead Gorgeous). So, so funny. I actually started having contractions in the middle of the movie but refused to leave because I didn’t want to miss the ending.
(Obviously the contractions meant nothing, seeing as I’m not currently holding a baby.)
Anyway, go see it.
On Saturday Brian and I grabbed Hypnotic Donuts then headed up to Children’s to visit sweet Adeline (and Camille & Scott, of course).
Addie looked so sweet and perfect and slept through our entire visit. I won’t take it personally. She’s moved up to the non-ICU floor and is doing GREAT.
The rest of Saturday was spent playing with Jack, grabbing dinner at Cowboy Chicken, cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. Brian’s parents got into town today, so we met them and my parents for dinner at Blue Mesa. I’m trying to stuff myself as much as possible between now and midnight. Street tacos: avocado-black bean-goat cheese, shrimp and pulled pork.
The nerves are totally kicking in right about now. No idea how I’m going to sleep tonight. Will try to get Brian to post an update tomorrow/tomorrow night and then I have some blog entries ready to go for the rest of the week. Send happy thoughts our way!
