Polished

I have an addictive personality when it comes to time-wasting websites. First it was Pinterest, now it’s Instagram (if you want to see a bunch of pictures of Jack and Chloe, I’m under @heatherbakes… it’s riveting).

Anyway, the other day one of my favorite bloggers/authors, Kelle Hampton, posted photos on Instagram of her “faux” shellac manicure. The recipe was…

1 coat of Nail Magic Hardener (Sally’s):

Followed by 2 coats of polish (I used Essie Peach Daiquiri):

Followed by one coat of Out the Door Topcoat (also Sally’s):

I tried this out on Sunday, and by Thursday? NO CHIPS. Nothing. The polish wasn’t even wearing out on the tips like it always does. And I’d been cooking, washing dishes, playing with Jack, etc.

(Ugh, puffy pregnant fingers… but you get the idea.)

Usually my polish starts chipping after a day or two. The only reason I didn’t continue testing it was because I went in for a mani today and they removed my polish. Another bonus? It didn’t seem like it messed up my nails at all, either. I’ve been impressed with the staying power of that new Revlon ColorStay Polish, but it does a number on my nails and they end up all dry and peeling.

So anyway, just a little tip-a-roo for you while I’m out on blog “maternity leave.” Let me know if you try it!!
