I think we crammed as much fun as we possibly could into this 3 day weekend. Friday night felt like a celebration- last week was exhausting- so we headed to Mariano’s. Because Mexican food = party… especially margaritas.
(Not particularly celebratory? Paying $11 for a skinny frozen margarita. What the what???)
My parents took Jack to spend the night at the lake on Saturday, so it was just the three of us here. We loaded up Isla and headed to the mall. I’d forgotten how EASY it is to shop with a baby. We didn’t have to rush home for naptime, I just fed her in one of the nursing rooms… I swear it was the most productive shopping trip we’ve had in two years.
Oh, and we tried a new local restaurant for dinner: Cedar’s Mediterranean Grill. They have a giant all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet for only $9.99. It’s a TON of food: hummus, pita, dolmas, tabbouleh, roasted veggies, cheese, rice, salads.
I definitely want to go back. They offer meats, too, but the veggies were more than enough for me. I wanted to try everything but obviously my eyes were bigger than my stomach.
On Sunday morning our sweet friends Joy, Chip and Merrit were in town from San Antonio. I miss them SO MUCH.
Introducing the Happiest Baby in the World:
How cute is that little grin?? He reminds me of Jack at that age- just looking around trying to find people to engage and smile at.
It was a nice little break to just have one child for a day, but we missed Jack. Our life isn’t as fun without him.
Tonight we headed over to my parents’ house for a little Labor Day BBQ with them, my grandparents and my brother and sister-in-law. Brian and I swam with Jack for a while.
Before Isla was born, we bought her this ridiculously cute swimsuit at Gap. Nevermind that she was way too young to get in the pool this summer. Anyway, I had to get her in the suit today for a picture or two before she grows out of it.
Guess what tomorrow is??? FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I don’t know what Isla and I are going to do with ourselves. I’m off to pack Jack’s lunch…
