So today was the big day: Trader Joe’s visit! I dropped Jack off at school, raced to my mom’s to pick her up, then we headed up to Plano. We arrived before 10 and it was still packed!! Apparently Isla didn’t get the memo about TJ’s awesomeness because she was having none of it. Screamed until I finally went out to the car and moved her from the stroller to the Ergo. Then she fussed a little more and passed out (as long as I kept bouncing… I bounced all through that store).
Anyway, LOVED it. I thought my head was going to explode. I saw a lot of your recommendations but not others, so maybe certain stores get certain items? Here’s my haul:
Highlights: Buffalo chicken meatballs, edamame hummus, egg white salad, two kinds of salad dressing (hummus dressing, and pear & gorgonzola dressing), chicken gyoza dumplings (and dipping sauce), bagged kale, Spanish cheese trio, chicken apple sausage, gorgonzola crackers, alphabet cookies (Jack’s obsessed), mushroom flatbread pizza, masala simmer sauce, frozen grilled chicken strips, mini PB cups, Greek yogurt… that’s all I can think of at the moment, but as you can see from the picture there was a LOT more. And there was so much that I wanted to buy but didn’t this go-round. I want to go back sans-kids when the crowd dies down a bit and just wander the aisles.
I think I was most impressed with their selection of prepared and/or frozen items and meals. They make it so easy to put together a healthy meal in NO time, and so far everything has tasted great.
Tonight we had this for dinner:
My only complaint was that it was a little small (the pizza serves 2 and I could have eaten the whole thing by myself). But the taste was amazing.
Oh, these are like candy. I can’t stop eating:
Along with the pizza for dinner, we had a salad of TJ’s butter lettuce, hearts of palm, those tomatoes, chicken strips, cucumber and avocado. I topped mine with the pear & gorgonzola dressing.
So there you have it. The trip was a success and I can’t wait to go back… once I clear out some room in our house. They’re opening one up less than 5 miles from our house next year and it’s gonna be on like Donkey Kong.
