So Jack has boycotted his nap twice this week. This is NOT OKAY. Today he seemed exhausted after school, so I put him down as usual. I could hear him playing over the monitor and about 30 minutes later he started yelling, “Help, Mommy!!”
I went in and he had wedged his leg between the mattress and the bed. No big deal. I pull his leg out and then notice that he has peed all over the bed. His diaper was bone dry, too- I have no clue how he does this, but it happens more than you’d think. So I change the sheets, get him back in bed, climb in with him until he seems sleepy, leave the room… and then he’s back up playing for another hour. WTF?? (And don’t tell me he’s outgrowing naps because I will lose it.)
Good thing he’s cute.
Tonight I pulled another TJ’s find out of the pantry:
For dinner I sauteed garlic, onions, mushrooms and shredded carrots in olive oil, then added ground turkey. Once the turkey was cooked through, I poured in the arrabiata sauce and about a tablespoon of chopped basil and simmered for half an hour. It was really thick so I ended up adding another jar of pasta sauce (Barilla Marinara), which ended up being a good thing because the Trader Joe’s sauce on its own would have been too spicy for Jack.
Served over spaghetti squash:
And on the side, a bag of Trader Joe’s shredded Brussels sprouts (thanks, Kate!) sauteed with turkey bacon and balsamic vinegar.
Look for a giveaway tomorrow night!!!! It’s a good one for those of you with kids (or with kids to buy for)!
