Fair Night

I think this may have been the longest day ever. All good things, but just a long day. I can barely keep my eyes open. This evening we headed to the State Fair, this time with kids (and my parents). We’ve taken Jack to the fair the past 2 years, but this is kind of the perfect age because he gets REALLY excited about stuff, but he’s not yet to the point where he asks to do/buy everything in sight.

Trying his first Fletcher’s corn dog. He’s had corn dogs in the past, but this was the first time that he actually ate it “like a big boy” instead of having us peel off the crust and cut up the hot dog. It was a major milestone.

Despite the drooling, she did not get a corn dog. Next year, baby girl.

And here’s a fried turd Snickers.

It tasted a lot better than it looks.

The coolest part by far was the Chinese Lantern Festival. This was the first year they’ve done it, but I’m hoping it’s going to be an annual event. Both kids were mesmerized. Isla normally passes out in the Ergo, but she was wide awake staring at all of the lights (and up wayyyy past her bedtime).

We also took a gondola ride over the fair, which was pretty amazing. My pics didn’t do it justice:

Such a fun night! ‘Til next year, State Fair of TX! I’m praying that my children sleep in tomorrow because mommy is WIPED. I think it’s going to be a stay-in-the-pj’s kind of day. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The pic of the four of you in front of the lanterns is the picture of love and bliss – so sweet!
