Important Things

So we’re still here in South Carolina. Jack is having a blast playing with his cousins:

It doesn’t seem to faze him one bit that he’s the only boy…

And Isla’s being PERFECT. I was worried about how she would do in an unfamiliar setting, but she’s sleeping/napping great and being her sweet, smiley self (despite this face).

Gah she’s the cutest thing ever. I’m so glad she’s mine.

Tonight we headed over to Brian’s sister and brother-in-law’s house for dinner and they pulled out their old jumperoo for Isla. She LOVED it. She stayed in it for at least an hour, just hopping and watching everyone.

Earlier today we loaded up the kids and headed to Trader Joe’s to grab some appetizers for NYE. I know, I know- I can’t stay away from the TJ’s. Anyway, it’s interesting to see what they do and don’t have as compared to our local store. For example, I couldn’t find my beloved Greek yogurt-feta dip, but they did have this:

I’m waiting ’til we get back to Dallas to break that out, but doesn’t it sound amazing? What to do with it? I’m not sure yet. Details, details.

Also, I saw these in Dallas ONCE and they’ve been sold out ever since.

I can now attest that they are really freaking good. Hard to describe the texture, but they’re basically thick shavings of dried coconut, slightly sweet/slightly salty and the flavor is addictive. Jack snagged the bag and munched on them the whole way home.

Other crucial notes:

- I got my first shellac mani before this trip and HOLY MOLY where have I been???? I’ve cleaned, washed dishes, opened packages, scraped off stickers, etc., and not a chip! I’m slightly nervous to see how the ol’ nails look once this stuff gets soaked off, but really? A-ma-zing.

- Yet another way Pinterest is a total life changer: My gmail inbox is RIDICULOUS. Like 30,000 emails ridiculous because I’m too damn lazy to clean it out. I read a tip on Pinterest to search for the term “unsubscribe” and then just select all and delete (so basically getting rid of any mass mailings in one fell swoop). I gave it a shot the other night and it instantly removed TWENTY THREE THOUSAND e-mails in like 30 seconds. I think that’s the most productive thing I’ve done all year. Besides like having a child and stuff.

I probably won’t be posting tomorrow as we’ll be having a wild and crazy New Year’s Eve (no) but I’ll be back on Tuesday fo sho. Happy 2013 everyone! XOXO
