Celebrating Early

Tonight my parents watched the kids so Brian and I could do an early Valentine’s dinner. I think the 14th will probably involve a heart-shaped Papa Murphy’s here, so it was fun to get out and celebrate like grown-ups. Today was a little crazy- Jack had school, took a quick nap and then we had his playgroup Valentine’s party at 4- so we chose a low key (though delish!!) spot for dinner: East Hampton Sandwich Company.

I like the vibe- casual but classy beach theme. You order at the counter and they bring you your food.

Nice pours!!

Brian ordered a Fireman’s Four and they served it in a can with an East Hampton koozie.  He loved that.

We both ordered the lobster roll:

Check out those sweet lobster chunks!! So good. They serve it with drawn butter but I topped mine with a few lemon squeezes. I’m not a huge potato chip fan but these homemade chips were pretty awesome (ask for the blue cheese dip).

Also a huge fan of their cole slaw. No mayo, lots of lemon juice and vinegar. Perfect.

For dessert- the bag of donuts. OMG. They serve them HOT out of the fryer, rolled in cinnamon sugar and tossed in a paper bag. They’re a lot like beignets.

And then we went to Target and bought groceries. It seems like all of our date nights involve a Target trip. How lame is that?

So yeah- a fun early Valentine’s celebration AND we’ve found a great new restaurant to frequent! I’d call that a win.

What are you giving up for Lent? I think I’ve settled on dairy, which is going to be HARD. There’s a lot of cheese & yogurt in our fridge.
