Bumps

If you’re ever sitting around thinking, “Wow, my life is really calm and predictable,” then I have a good solution for you. Just find a toddler and hang out with them for like 5 minutes. On Saturday I was in the bathroom getting ready for my friend Carolyn’s baby shower, and all of a sudden I hear Jack screaming and Brian’s freaked-out voice. Jack tends to overreact a LOT- like hyperventilating over Chloe sniffing his toy- but I could tell from Brian’s tone that shiz was going down. I ran in the living room and blood was pouring out of Jack’s head. He had fallen off the couch and hit the coffee table. It was horrible. He has so much hair and there was so much blood that it was impossible to see how bad of a cut it was, so we woke Isla up from her nap, threw the kids in the car and headed to urgent care.

Once the doctor got him all cleaned up, we realized that the cut was only about the length of my pinky nail. A little glue and he was good as new. That kid is amazing. He was playing with the PBS Kids app on my phone throughout the entire cleaning/gluing process and never even flinched.

(On a side note- the Concentra Urgent Care on Greenville is great. We opted for that over the ER and they got us in immediately, it’s super clean, they had snacks in the waiting room, and the doctor and nurse were so sweet to Jack. He left with about 25 scratch and sniff stickers on his shirt. Last time we took him to the ER we were there for 5 hours and got a bill for $800. Ridic.)

ANYWAY. He’s great now, thank goodness. If you need evidence, here he is just a few hours after his little spill. We met our friends Chandler and Kelsey for dinner and Jack and Channing went CRAAAZY. They were totally cracking each other up…

This morning we headed to Nazca Kitchen for lunch. I love that we have such a cool new restaurant in our neighborhood. We started with the acai bowl:

I liked it but was expecting something tangier… and we all had purple mouths afterward.

My lunch- chile jam chicken wrap and roasted butternut squash. I loved the sweet chile and yogurt sauce on the wrap.

Tonight we ate leftover cashew chicken and BBQ beans & kale for dinner, but I did whip up a GIANT batch of this creamy chicken and tomato soup in the crock pot. It’s paleo- coconut milk instead of heavy cream- but I haven’t really tried it yet. I’ll keep you posted on how it tastes!

Hope everyone had a great, injury-free weekend!
