Snugs

Let me tell you about my wild and crazy night: descaling the Keurig. I know! And earlier I went grocery shopping at Target BY MYSELF. This is the stuff dreams are made of, folks.

Brian headed to the lake Friday night with some friends. It was my first time to spend the night alone with both kids. My parents took us to dinner and hung around while I put Isla down, which was a huge help. I remember having slumber parties with my mom whenever my dad was out of town (we would eat popcorn and Blue Bell in her bed) so I was actually pretty excited to continue the tradition with Jack. My idea was that he would obediently fall asleep next to me and I would be free to read magazines in bed for the rest of the night… but no. He decide that the Ulta catalog was like the most exciting read ever and kept hanging over my shoulder and pointing at stuff, “Oooh Mommy, there’s some nail polish! Look at that perfume! Wow, that’s a GIANT lipstick!!!”

At 10:30 I finally gave up and turned the lights out. Also? Those visions of snuggling sweetly? Yeah, notsomuch.

He slept horizontally, which was slightly helpful in that I didn’t worry about him rolling off the bed, but bad because it gave me about 6 inches of bed space. Six inches to share with Chloe.

I’m whining but it actually was really sweet. We were so careful the first few years to make sure that he learned to sleep in his OWN bed, but I have to admit that I kind of loved having him with me. Not to brag, but he’s pretty much the best kid ever.

Jack had T-ball on Saturday morning, and then we headed up to the lake to meet Brian. A few pics from the weekend:

He insisted on eating breakfast next to his sister. They shared pancakes.

PJ playtime at the lake:

Tonight I got a hankering to bake and scrolled through my pinboards until I found this recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Brittle. I love chocolate chip cookie anything because that means I can eat raw dough (duh), and this recipe just sounded interesting. I couldn’t tell if it would really have the consistency of “brittle” or just be like a crispy cookie. Anyway, I whipped up a batch tonight:

Post-baking:

I’m going to let it cool completely so I can get the full crispy effect, so I’ll report tomorrow and let you know how it turns out. You’re on pins and needles, right?? Yeah, me too. It smells really good.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!
