Whole 30: Day 3

So as Brian pointed out, we’re officially 1/10th of the way through the Whole 30. Woooo! So close! Or not. When I woke up this morning my neck and shoulders were SO sore, and then when I went to pick up Isla out of her crib I had this shooting pain through my neck. Weird. I could barely turn my head until I downed a couple of Aleve and had a cup of coffee. Not sure what to attribute this to: lifting 45 lb Jack in and out of the carseat, hauling around my giant diaper bag/purse (the pain was on the right side, which would make sense) or caffeine withdrawals. Anyway, it sucked and I hope it doesn’t come back tomorrow.

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with broccoli slaw and a diced chicken sausage, avocado, blackberries and strawberries.

Lunch was weird, random and ridiculously easy- but I think it may be one of my new faves. Just a pile of sauerkraut (one of the things Whole 30 recommends adding to your diet) topped with 2 Applegate beef hot dogs and Annie’s horseradish mustard. Veggies with guacamole on the side. And pickles!

We’ve been eating outside on the patio lately. Jack and Isla LOVE it but it’s a total battle to get them to stay in their seats and actually eat. Crazy kids.

I don’t have a pic of Jack because he ran inside to use the bathroom and come back out pant-less, so he ate his lunch in his undies. Yep, that’s how we roll.

Snack was same as yesterday- apple slices with almond butter and coconut flakes.

For dinner I made a slow cooker pork roast. You do have to brown the meat and prepare the sauce before throwing everything in the crock pot, but it comes together pretty quickly. The flavor was surprisingly good given the limited number of ingredients. Brian and I kept talking about how the pork would be so good… on a bun… or in a tortilla…

With sauteed Brussels sprouts and bacon, a baked sweet potato and more of that sauerkraut:

According to the Whole 30 timeline, tomorrow and Friday we’ll be in the “Kill All The Things” phase… not sure what that means, but I’m going to go ahead and issue a blanket apology for anything I say or do in the next 48 hours.

    Looks like you are doing a great job on the Whole 30! Kill All Things means you will be UBER cranky. I don’t remember ever being as grumpy as I was for those 2 days. For me it happened after about a week or 9 days– it’s different for everyone. I thought I had bypassed that phase cause it didn’t happen per the timeline…just don’t want you to be caught off guard:)
