We had such a fun weekend! Jack’s birthday party was on Saturday afternoon at local indoor sports training facility. It started out a little rocky- the place was just really disorganized and understaffed, and I honestly thought the boys were going to start an all-out Nerf war in the lobby- but once the party got going it was so much fun! It’s just a big indoor field and they’ll let you pretty much do whatever. Jack chose an obstacle course, indoor soccer and a Nerf battle. Boy heaven. They literally ran for an hour and a half straight.
Jack only stood still when it was time for pizza and cake. How is this boy 8?? He just gets sweeter every year and I can’t get enough of him!
On Sunday Isla and I went to see the Nutcracker with her bestie Molly. It was put on by Isla’s ballet studio and she loved getting to see friends and classmates onstage. They can audition in first grade and she’s already told me she wants to do it next year. She and Molly met Clara during intermission and were starstruck:
These Christmas activities just get more fun every year! We have a few more coming up this weekend and I can’t wait.
Last week was craaaaazy and I really didn’t cook at all. This week is a lot less busy, thank goodness. I actually sat down and made a meal plan today for the first time in who knows how long. For dinner tonight I baked some bacon-wrapped turkey filets from Aldi. I broiled them at the end to crisp up the bacon and basically just overcooked the hell out of the turkey (sorry Bri). But the veggies were really good!! I ended up roasting green beans and mushrooms (tossed in olive oil and balsamic first) and sprinkled them with parmesan. They were SO GOOD. We get in such a roasted broccoli or brussels sprout rut, but this is just as easy… and doesn’t make the house smell terrible for days. So that’s a nice bonus. I loosely followed this recipe but added more balsamic and cooked the beans for longer.
Catch y’all tomorrow!
