Hey! Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend! We are *this close* to summer- Jack’s last day is Thursday, and Isla has kindergarten graduation tomorrow.
Somebody hold me. How is this possible??
We had a fun weekend! My birthday was on Saturday, so we met my family for an early b-day dinner at Breadwinner’s on Friday night. At this point in our lives, we choose restaurants based on who has the best play area for the kids… because really that’s the only way we get to enjoy a meal.
The kids had a blast (and my shrimp buccatini with lemon was GREAT).
Had to include this because EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT THE CAMERA. Birthday miracle.
Saturday was pretty low key. Brian took the kids to a birthday party and let me have some time to relax at home. Then we met friends for dinner at The Lot (again, kids play area!). On Sunday we hit up the pool for opening weekend, then my parents watched the kids so we could have a birthday date. We had dinner at Javier’s- I ordered the snapper mojo de ajo, which was fantastic. We had big plans to go out for drinks after… but then ended up on the couch watching SNL. Because #thisis36 #oldpeopleproblems.
Finally on Monday we ended up running to Central Market for some meat to grill. We have a charcoal grill so it’s rare that we have the time (or foresight) to get that going, but I’m hoping to put it into the rotation more this summer. Brian grilled dijon chicken, a giant steak (we split it), jalapeno poppers, and hot dogs for the kids. I made my very favorite BBQ beans with kale and a watermelon, feta and basil salad. Perfect Memorial Day meal!
Ok, I have teacher gifts to assemble, a graduation dress to wash, and supplies to grab for the post-graduation splash park party. Gonna be a late night!
