Love me some peas too, Heather! I thought of this blog post while reading your recipe:
http://www.gracegritsgarden.com/2013/05/spicy-ginger-black-eyed-peas.html

I haven't tried them, but they sound good too ... and very similar to yours! Thought you might enjoy this slight twist too :)

And yeah, spring in Texas, always a wild ride! Stay safe!!

A. Devouring Glennon's book and just read the section about her kiddo's Target meltdown B. Wish our Target actually had police that cared and would scare the kids straight and then you can tell him you are a writer, on a blog...about parenting (or cooking, whatever). C. Such a good book and is making me feel sooooo much better that others agree that this parenting thing is a mind-blowing, exhausting, punch-you-in-the-face job that starts over every.single.day. Carry on my warrior friend....I also think we should take up yoga, I'm needing some Zen up in here by about 4 p.m. everyday or that or maybe just some xanex. :)

I am with Steph. I don't mind the little daily annoyances. Oftentimes, bloggers make motherhood look like rainbows and butterflies. Those of us who aren't mothers yet - well, we need the truth! What do we have to look forward to? I enjoy your posts because they are candid and real. A nice slice of life from a great mother! And I'm disappointed in Isla for despising Target. I think that'll change when she's, oh, 13 or so.

I actually like reading about those everyday annoyances sometimes because it makes me feel a little more normal. Like OK other Moms experience the same difficult things, it's ok to be frustrated by this!

Like for example, my son Lucas (11 months) climbs out of every single shopping cart. Doesn't matter how tightly I strap him in, he somehow finds a way to wiggle his way into a standing position and try to leap out of the cart. It's really fun, especially when my 3-year old is trying to climb out of the back of the cart at the same time. =/

Keep those honest stories coming!
