Summer TV = Sad

Chloe, Brian and I are watching an old 30 Rock right now. Oh man, I miss that show. You can only handle so many episodes of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant (what is WRONG with these people??) and reruns of Jon and Kate. Bring back the (intentionally) funny, please. At least Project Runway is starting again soon.

For breakfast I had a big bowl of overnight oats: 1/2 c oats, 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c plain yogurt, blueberries, raisins and almonds. Before eating I sprinkled on some Kashi Honey Sunshine cereal for crunch.

We met Brian for lunch today at the Allgood Cafe. The kids LOVE that place- apparently their grilled cheese “is, like, the best ever.”

I had the Main Street Salad with romaine, red onions, tomatoes, avocado, goat cheese, roasted chicken and shrimp. Garlic dressing on the side.

It was between that and the daily special (meatloaf). I had a little buyer’s remorse after catching a glimpse of the mashed potatoes. Mmm.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with the kids and swimming. When I got home I went to TOWN on this bowl of cherries:

We had dinner at Mi Cocina tonight with the family I nanny for… or for those of you with preposition issues (DAD), “the family for which I nanny.” I had the Enchiladas Modern with chicken:

So lately I’ve been demanding dessert on pretty much a nightly basis. Tonight we ended up at one of my summer lifesavers: TC Shaved Ice. It’s just a little drive-up shack on Garland Rd. I had my usual: Margarita.

YUM. It’s super cheap, too- and all kinds of great flavors. Brian gets the “Knockout”: pina colada ice cream surrounded by shaved ice.

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow!! Sleeping in (hopefully), meeting my dad for lunch and THEN getting my hair cut and colored. It’s embarassing; the last time I had my highlights done was, oh, February. And I’m not one of those people who can get by without it. My roots are GRAY. Don’t even ask when the last haircut took place. Anyway, I’m super excited because I feel like a giant frumpy pregnant lady right now and a new ‘do will really help the situation. Hopefully.

How do you “treat”/pamper yourself?

I’m getting my hair highlighted today myself! I think it’s been two years! Bradley told me yesterday that it’s good that I’m getting it done because I have so much grey hair. He then proceeds to say that maybe they can put a clothespin behind my neck to pull my skin tighter. I thought Honey was going to have a cow. She said, “Bradley, we need to have a talk. You don’t ever tell a woman they need a highlight and a facelift!” Gotta love kids!! Your turn is coming! :)

I like to pamper myself during the week by having a ME night. It consists of a shower, a hair mask, some leg shaving, a face mask, some self tanner, and a pedicure. Chad loves ME nights, I always look super hot in my bath robe and a blue mask.

Shaved ice. margarita flavor. Garland Rd. Where Have I Been?
That salad looked awesome. I need to try that place, too.

    I feel pampered after a mani/pedicure.

This isn’t very good pampering, but after a long day when I think I need a little special i have half a Zevia soda. They’re just so expensive if I don’t ration myself I could go through a 6 pack each day
