Nope, not an ode to Blind Melon. Though who didn’t love the Bee Girl? This afternoon we were greeted with ominous clouds, lightning and lots of thunder… but not a DROP of rain. Which means that we got to listen to Chloe bark her head off at the noise, yet our yard remains scorched. Sigh.
Good weekend, though! Friday I got up early and did a few chores around the house before meeting my parents for lunch at the Central Market Cafe. I had my new fave, the falafel roll-up. My mom ordered for me before I got there and I told her to surprise me with the side (fruit or fries). She chose well.
Apparently this weekend marked our CM’s 7th birthday, so they handed out free cake.
Cake = meh. Icing = better.
After lunch I zipped over to the hair salon for much-needed highlights and cut. Nothing drastic, just the usual blond streaks, ends trimmed and a few layers added.
New ‘do and 20 WEEK bump photo (I’m HALFWAY THERE!!!):
That night Brian and I headed to Asian Mint for dinner. I had the always-tasty pad thai:
Asian Mint has several versions of pad thai (low-carb, no-carb, crispy…) but I stuck with the regular.
Got up early, early (5:30) to babysit for a couple of hours. Got home around 8 and didn’t feel like going back to bed. It was in the high 70′s and felt amazing outside, so I ventured out for my first run in probably 2 months. Though the doctor has given the go-ahead on easy runs, I was a little nervous about running with this belly and wasn’t sure how far I’d make it. Ended up running 2.5 miles! Woohoo! It felt great. Other than getting a few stares, it was just like any normal run- and just such a relief to get my legs moving again. Though today my quads are pretty sore.
For lunch/brunch we decided to try a new place that everyone seems to be raving about: Taco Joint. I want to write a full review later and don’t want to spoil too much, but here’s a sneak peek at my order:
Speaking of reviews, we also had the opportunity to stop in to The Cupcakery on Saturday afternooon! I’m posting that review tomorrow afternoon, so be sure to check back. Let’s just say…
Saturday night we attended a housewarming party for one of Brian’s coworkers. I didn’t really want to bust out the camera in front of everyone, seeing as I was already the cool preggo lady sipping Sprite. But I will say that Brian and I made a huge dent in both the cheese tray and the french onion dip.
I woke up plastered to the Snoogle with a pug snoring at my ankles, feeling like I’d been run over by a Mack truck. Yeah, it was 11am. I slept 10.5 hours. Nice.
Once the pillow creases disappeared from my face, we headed to Barbec’s for lunch. Had my usual Garden Platter.
With a name like “Garden Platter,” you would think healthy, right? But you would be wrong. Cheese + hashbrowns + eggs + tons and tons of ketchup.
The rest of the day was spent running to Home Depot, cleaning out the office (will it EVER end?) and the guest room closet, and grocery shopping at Target.
As part of the blog-improvement project, once a week I’d like to come up with a new recipe. Sunday seems like a good day for this, don’t you think? Anyway, the first installment of that little endeavor can be found here… and as always, any recipe I’ve created can be located by clicking the *BAKES* link at the top of the page.
Here’s a taste: Three Cheese Baked Ziti with Eggplant.
Thanks to Brian for the photo
Alright, I’m out! Hope you kids had a great weekend!
